About Malta

The Maltese archipelago lies virtually at the centre of the Mediterranean, with Malta 93km south of Sicily and 288km north of Africa. The archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of 400,000 inhabitants over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km

Due to the desire to enforce itself as an internationally recognized financial centre, Malta has put in place the necessary legislation to transform itself into a reputable and efficient jurisdiction. As part of these reforms, Malta has set up an independent Financial Services Regulator to overview the provision of Financial Services on the Islands. These reforms to its finance sector legislation are in line with international best practice.
